Upon learning about my new director, Mel Gibson, my dad suggested that I watch Braveheart, saying that it is a really good movie. After watching it I can say I only really half agree with him. The movie was ok. Personally, the back in the day movies aren't my absolute favorite but I did like the story line of the movie. I enjoyed all of the battles in the movie. It is crazy how people fought back then. If you were going into fight you were most likely destine to die. I think it's also amazing that the director himself was the main character in this movie. It shows Mel Gibson's dedication to his craft. However, a part that I hate about all directors that put this in movies is sex scenes. Like c'mon! When you're watching it with your parents it makes things super awkward and there is no valid reason why any sex scene should be in a movie. Finally, I thought the ending was sad but it was awesome to see the Scottish finally get their freedom.

After talking about this movie in our notes, I decided to give it a go and since some people consider it a Christmas movie I thought there's no better time to watch it. Die Hard is a movie about a husband (John) who comes to L.A. for a Christmas party. The party is in a building called Nakatomi Plaza. John very quickly realizes that Terrorists have come to steal hundreds of millions of dollars from the building's vault. John is the only one that escapes being held captive so it is up to him to save everyone, including his wife. There are some very iconic lines in this movie, one being "Yippee-ki-yay, mother******. The movie is also not just known for its lines but also the scenes. For example, after he kills a terrorist member, he sends him down the elevator with a shirt that says "Ho, Ho, Ho, now I have a machine gun". Its awesome to watch all the terrorists freak out and eventually get destroyed by John. I thought this movie was very good although I wouldn't consider it a Christmas movie :). |
